Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death globally, but early detection via low-dose CT (LDCT) scans significantly improves survival rates, especially in high-risk groups. However, socioeconomic disparities limit access to screening, highlighting the need for targeted outreach programs like Pluto Health's, which uses technology to identify and connect at-risk individuals with life-saving LDCT scans.
New research shows that starting mammograms at age 40 can significantly lower breast cancer mortality, especially for women in their 40s. This is because younger women often have denser breast tissue, making early detection more crucial. Family history also plays a role, with women having a family history of breast cancer advised to begin screening earlier.

Healthcare disparities in the United States have long been a significant issue, with racial, social, and economic factors playing a crucial role. Racially and ethnically diverse communities often face a disproportionate burden of illness and disease, primarily due to systemic inequities. African Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans, for example, are more likely to suffer from chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
